gear into gear
they roar
-
numbers and molds
definitions that hold
a truth we couldn't know
a yes for every no
we took it for granted
intended to advance
product after product
filling shopping carts
buried under piles and
choking on the fumes
hunted by successors
who copied and evolved
a horrendous scheme
the tools of relieve
were aimed too deep
stabbing pain we achieved
we parted the sea with a massive growl
from top of the mountains that we tried to bow
on makeshift wings we took off to fly
to visit the sun at least we had to try
clenched in the talons of the bird of our past
hungry for cruel iron to fill the greedy cast
erect a sculpture that barely breathes
so stubborn it slides into the deeps
on this eternal assembly line
piece on piece in cataclysmic rhyme
conceived by the brightest minds
neglecting the truth that it hides
a creation of its own worst kind
it carries on through space and time
when after all the lights go blind
empty towers left behind
logic commands the moves
feelings to confuse
rearrange the queen
binaries to reign
we are sick to the stomach
and they roll on

listen, you may still
hear their song
of a billion wings
that had shone in the sun
the quiet humming long gone
flowers and fields and meadows and woods
the poisoned remains we are the heirs to
dead leafs, dead branches, hollowed out trunks
the harvest is dust, machines into rust
sky full of bricks, carved to precision
weighing down on the wild bunch of roots
wood and stone in a split decision
reaching out for life in a fight that we loose
like an open door
to a cottage that collapsed
that is yawning
in autumn,
the stomach
is full
of nothing
-
finally we'd found a way
to rattle at our chains in pain
the hollow sound of empty cans
that are dangling at the caravan
the sound to scare the hounding ghosts
we still can make of it the most
through wasted planes that we're roaming
in the search for something blooming
this is not what seems to be
aspirations or just dreams
we will live another life
we will find a field to thrive
we will make it into spring
we will see the sun again
at least that's what I hope
the night a haunting whisper
but we don't want to listen
all these worries that we share
we're feeding on our own despair
the broken hearts and empty minds
will stick together, make things right
grow food on the nuclear dust
and time will cover up the past
we won't get sick but will mutate
to evolve into a different breed
and keep on digging at our pit
to finally make it bottomless
to finally make it bottomless
to finally make it bottomless
we will live another life
we will find a field to thrive
we will make it into spring
we will see the sun again

we'll see it all again
from beginning to the end
as desperation grows
with the fury that it shows
we tread each other down
grasping for the crown
although we know the trap
it's only the fool's cap
(if) bodies form the heap
there is no top to reach
a conquest in the dark
we're fighting with the shark
with the shark
-
we'll hear it all again
always deceivers spend
the words to fill your mouth
drown libraries in tomes
chanting well known tunes
so sing along
-
we'll taste it all again
the bitter drops that rain
from a hole in the sky
in a warmer winter time
when the gods decease
the argument is raised
and sheerer they will scream
it's only a pipe dream
(if) bodies form the heap
there is no top to reach
a conquest in the dark
we're fighting with the shark
with the shark
-
okay -
so what will it be -
the hate that brought us to our knees
or sailing on a different breeze
the memories we can't forget
that transcend now into regret
uncharted waters lay ahead
no ghost will choose the course we set
sail on
an antique question that
has not been asked today
triggers answers in
bizarre, unveiled decay
is everyone to act
a wicked noble part
of falling back in line
to be wrong is still a crime
an attempt that cannot fail
so we wince in self defense
we eclipse the loop again
to where we stand
